A broker in Gujarat sells a house by making fake Aadhaar cards

Want to sell your home? Don’t give the broker your Aadhaar cards or any other legal form of ID right away.

A senior couple in Vadodara almost lost their nice home in the Bhayli area because the seller made fake copies of their Aadhaar cards and sold the house to an NRI without telling the husband and wife.

On the copies of the Aadhaar cards, the dealer, Jatin Pala, put pictures of a man named Yagnesh Dave and a woman named Alpa Patel to show they owned the house, whereas in truth, Omveer Singh and his wife Jagruti actually owned it.

The Singh family hired Pala to help them sell their Vrajbhoomi apartment home. They gave him their Aadhaar card, PAN card, and other papers. An unknown caller called them in November 2020 and asked them to give their house to Vishal Malkan, who had bought it. When the Singhs were shocked, they found out that Pala had changed their copies of their Aadhaar cards in order to sell the house.

Pala forged papers submitted at the sub-registrar’s office. He then sold the property to Malkan, who didn’t know about his scam. Omveer reported Pala and three others to the Gotri police station in 2020 for cheating and forgery, according to lawyer Kishore Pillai, who defended the couple in civil court. Pala, Dave, Patel, and Rahul Thakkar were all arrested by the cops in Gotri. They are now out on bail.

At the same time, Singh also went to civil court to get back control of his house in 2021. “Dave and Patel also took advantage of the COVID mask rule and tried to hide their faces during the property registration process to avoid being caught,” said Pillai.

The court said on Monday that the Singh couple should get the house and told the sub-registrar Akota, to cancel the sale deed.

“As the case went on, it became clear that Pala and the other suspects had worked together to steal the property and sell it by forging signatures, documents, and Aadhar cards.” In 2021. Pillai said, “The court heard both sides and ruled in favor of the Singhs.”
